Our annual meeting will be in Kearney on February 15th at the Ramada Inn-- program includes elections, reports on scholarship, legislation, Tour Nebraska and a "state of the union" message on NRCA.  This is a dinner meeting - cost is $19.50 (all taxes, gratuity included - and it is our cost!)  We also have a special guest speaker - who has an interesting story about a group of high school kids who campaigned a drag car nationally while still in school.
For those interested there is a tour of the Classic Car Collection - at 3:00 -- no cost for the tour and it will last an hour.  The Ramada is offering a $79.00 room rate to NRCA members.  This is a members only event, but feel free to bring a friend or prospective member.

We will have a booth at the Tri City Street Rods car show in Grand Island on Feb 22, 23.   We will have some shirts, sweet shirts, caps and maybe even a few NRCA cast aluminum plaques available for sale.  You can also update your membership dues if you want to and entries for Tour Nebraska will be accepted.  We are currently watching the bills as they are being introduced in the Nebraska Unicameral and our scholarship program for 2014 is just getting started.  We will have information available at the show on those programs.  Be sure to stop by and visit us.

Registration is open under the events section.  Non members are welcome - you will have to join NRCA  but you can do that at the same time you register.

About 1/3rd of the NRCA members received the October newsletter Friday October 11th.  US mailed newsletters will go out in a week or so.  Our feature story is short, but announces that Tour Nebraska will be based out of Kearney Nebraska in 2014.  We need member email addresses - your assistance will be appreciated.

Speed week stated with tech inspections on Thursday and Friday this week - actual racing begins on Saturday and goes through next Thursday.  Salt was pretty wet yesterday - low humidity and wind predicted for today will hopefully dry things out.  Right now there is a lot of salt stuck to the bottom of your car including the blue "Tour Neb" 37 Ford.  Still the experience is worth it!

The is a great event in the somewhat western part of Nebraska -- you will not find better hospitality - great food and always a fun Saturday night party.  Awards are usually Sunday morning giving you the afternoon for traveling.  This show draws vehicles from Colorado, Kansas and South Dakota -- usually about 250 - one of the nicest shows in the state.

A lot of events going on in Kearney this coming week end with Cruise Night.  A show and shine on Saturday afternoon, followed by a parade.  That evening there is a burn out contest with NRCA handling the commentary.  It was a big hit last year and they have even added bleachers to accommodate the crowd!   An estimated 20,000 people will be in Kearney for this event, which continues with cruising all evening while there will be bands playing downtown all evening.  The crowd of spectators is unlike anywhere else in Nebraska.  Definitely a fun packed event to participate in or just to attend.
